100% dedication, 100% success, 100% fruit juice

Wilde Fruit Juice recently sponsored the Curro Drummies when they competed in the Western Province Championships. The girls put even their fiercest competitors to shame with their nifty footwork, swivels, precision catches and synchronized marching. Though Wilde simply sponsored their fruit juice, we felt like proud and gushing parents when the Curro Drummies marched off with first prize! Combining months of practice and hard work with 100% Wilde Apple Juice, the girls were definitely a rosy-cheeked force of energy to be reckoned with. Congratulations, Drummies, you earned it!

It's the season of Apples and giving

ELLE New Talent Make-up Artist Search Awards

The final of the ELLE New Talent Make-up Artist Search took place at Idasa Restaurant in Cape Town last week, attended by big names in the beauty industry and hosted by the lovely Tammy-Anne Fortuin. Naturally, Wilde was there.

While guests and judges sat back, idly sipping and stirring their drinks, the finalists were hard at work beautifying their models. This was quite the challenge - not only making the models more beautiful than they already are, but having to do so in only 30 minutes. The creative juice was flowing in liters, each finalist sipping on a carton of Wilde as they rushed about to complete their make-up masterpieces.

Finally, after much deliberation and discussion among the panel of judges, the show was stolen by Zakhele Mhlongo, or rather by the model flaunting his meticulous handiwork. As the New Talent Make-up Artist 2011, this talented young artist has a bright future ahead of him. Congratulations Zakhele, we wish you the best of luck!

Update: The season draws to a close

Last Friday really was a 'last Friday' at the the Pinelands Hockey Club as the annual Friday Night Lights coaching initiative drew to a close. Though a bit sad that the season is over, celebrations were in order as this time round 461 children had received personal hockey training under the
floodlights. Coaches and parents all blossomed with pride as the little athletes claimed their prizes, basking in the glory of the past months' hard work and bruised shins.

Through this initiative parents have seen their children grow from tearful hockey stick fearing squirts to confident young team players. Lindsay Dawes commented that her niece "absolutely loved the hockey on Friday" while Euguene Manoek believes that it's thanks to these Friday evening training sessions that his daughter Chelsea made it through to the zonal trials.

As one of the sponsors of this hockey skills development clinic, Wilde Fruit Juice is proud to have stood side-by-side with parents and coaches, watching every fledgeling grow over the past season. Friendship were made, skills were honed and many liters of Wilde were shared with a smile. Looking forward to the next!

Update: Expert training for goalkeepers

The Pinelands Hockey Club skills development initiative, Friday Night Lights, recently welcomed Lee Ibie, the Wales International Goalkeeper and 1st Team Mens Coach.

Lee Ibie was joined by a team of renowned professional goalkeepers to give the aspiring goalies some expert training to help improve their game. Seven goalkeepers, between the ages of 10 and 13 from local and surrounding schools, were put through their paces with a series of serious drills to focus on the main aspects of goalkeeping.

The inspiring training session will hopefully assist our aspiring young goalkeepers to wear the Green and Gold one day. In fact, they looked so motivated, that we wouldn't put it past them.

Wilde Fruit Juice is one of the proud sponsors of the hockey skills development clinic, hosted by the Pinelands Hockey Club.

Wilde Orange will C you through this winter

The changing of seasons has a way of bringing about little diseases such as colds and flu. The best way to prevent these ailments is to look within yourself. Yes, what are you allowing into your body?

A healthy diet is good for your immune system, to fight off the molecules that cause disease in your body. You can take all the pills you want, but have you ever considered taking what nature intended? Fruit is a natural source of antioxidants, which are disease fighters that works with and strengthens your immune system.

It's well-known that oranges are a rich source of vitamin C, which is one of the essential nutrients that acts as an antioxidant in the body. The body can't produce water soluble vitamin C naturally and because the body doesn't store it either, vitamin C is an important addition to the daily diet. It's believed to be more beneficial to consume vitamin C through a glass of orange juice than supplements, because the body can easily adapt to the natural ingredients found in it.

Vitamin C is the main water soluble antioxidant in the body - it disarms free radicals and prevents damage to cells. Not only do oranges contain vitamin C, it's also filled with vitamin A and B, calcium and potassium - a very wholesome addition to any diet!

Now before you pour your glass of fresh Wilde Orange Juice, you have to choose between pressed or 100%. Allow us to shed some light on the differences between these two Wilde fruit juice variants:

Pressing matters
Wilde Pressed Orange Juice is thicker in texture, as the oranges used to make the juice was juiced and filtered but not processed further before being packaged. This variant retains most of the nutrients of the natural orange in the juice. So, don’t be surprised if you have bits of orange pulp in your juice!

Smooth operator
Wilde 100% Orange Juice is made from the freshest oranges in South Africa that were juiced and then purified to remove the pulp, yielding a more consistent texture in the juice. The result is a smooth, easy drinking juice that will refresh your taste buds.

So what now? It really is up to you, whether you prefer your orange juice thicker or smoother in texture. Both Wilde Pressed and Wilde 100% are made from the finest natural ingredients and manufactured to ensure top quality for your enjoyment. So drink up and add that vitamin C to your daily diet.

The goodness of food

The annual Good Food & Wine Show celebrated the goodness of food with the rest of Cape Town from 26 to 29 May 2011 at the CTICC. Many a gourmet and gourmand built up their appetites for this year's show, and who can blame them with such features as the BBC Lifestyle hands-on workshops and many exhibitions, including wine, well-being and the Lindt Chocolate theatres?

We had both our Pressed and 100% ranges on offer at this year's Good Food & Wine Show. Thank you for stopping by and having a taste!

Update: Hockey development on a roll

The Pinelands Hockey Club skills development initiative, Friday Night Lights, is doing its bit for the community. For two consecutive Fridays, 13 and 20 May 2011, children from an underprivileged school, Garden Village Primary, enrolled in the hockey development clinic.

Wilde hands out free juice to all the participating hockey players.

On Friday the 13th, Friday Night Lights hosted 88 children for hockey skills development, with 12 of the athletes hailing from Garden Village. The following Friday saw 89 children attending practice, with 17 from Garden Village!

Pinelands Hockey Club is pleased with the development of the participants' hockey skills. After only three sessions of Friday Night Lights, huge improvement has been spotted - these kids are dribbling towards success!

Wilde Fruit Juice is one of the proud sponsors of this hockey skills development clinic, handing out free Wilde. As lots of parents come out to support their kids, the Pinelands Hockey Club helps encourage sales of Wilde among them - for their kids' lunch boxes and so forth.

Making a mark in Botswana

The latest addition to generate awareness around the Wilde 100% brand, is the fleet of newly branded Wilde 100% trucks in Botswana. Not only can shops expect punctual Wilde fruit juice deliveries, but also be sure that people in the area know about the brand.

Miraculous Donation

Wilde Fruit Juice supported Janet Lightley and her team partner, Andrew Koen, who participated in the 2011 ABSA Cape Epic that took place from 27 March to 3 April. They aimed to raise awareness and funds for a local charity initiative, Miracle Kidz.

Miracle Kidz provides a safe and loving temporary home to abused, abandoned and neglected babies and children. In addition to feeding, clothing and attending to any medical requirements, Miracle Kidz introduces the children in their care to a family structure and prepares them for the future.

Even though just under 90% of the cyclists who started the ABSA Cape Epic race on the 27th of March 2011 saw it through to the finish line on 3 April, Janet Lightley and Andrew Koen said that it was an incredible experience for them and that it was a privilege to be able to ride in such beautiful and unspoiled areas.

Furthermore, the team was blown away by the massive support they received during their Epic venture: a total of R 51 427,50 was raised for Miracle Kidz, which will now be put towards the organisation's much needed vehicle fund for the transport of the children and babies in their care.

If you are interested in making a donation to Miracle Kids, please visit them for more details.
