Wilde walks with the SPCA

Wilde Fruit Juice helped out at the annual SPCA Royal Canin Wiggle Waggle Walkathon fundraising event this past November, which is South Africa's biggest dog walk. Just over 2500 pet owners and 1700 dogs enjoyed a 4.5km walk in the scenic landscapes of Tokai, near Cape Town.
If that's not all, everyone was treated to a comedic performance by renowned comedians Soli Philander and Kurt Schoonraad. After the rounds of laughter and although the rain ended the proceedings prematurely, all participants left in high spirits.

Despite the large number of pets, we were pleased to hear that there weren't any veterinary emergencies. A staggering R250 000 was raised for the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, which is sure to improve the lives of many sick and abandoned animals. Wilde was proud to be part of this fundraiser. Should you wish to join in on the exciting event next year, please visit SPCA website here and support their cause.

Wellington Golf Day a Wilde success

This past Friday, we had a highly successful cowboy and cowgirl themed golf day at the Wellington Golf Club in sweltering spring weather.

22 teams, comprised of four players each, battled it out on the course - quenching their thirst with non other than refreshing Wilde Fruit Juice and snacks at various holes along the course. The golf day was a fundraiser for the NG Noord Congregation in Wellington and we managed to raise a staggering R130 000!

We would like to give a big thanks to our sponsors and prize sponsors for making this day possible, and ensuring that all golf day players went home with a prize. Wilde Fruit Juice is proud to have been involved with this fundraiser.

Wilde supports M-Net Cares Drive

The M-Net Cares Drive was a phenomenal success this year with just over R580 000 being raised for two equally deserving charities: The M-Net Naledi Children's Literacy Project and The PinkDrive Breast Cancer Initiative. These projects respectively aim to improve the illiteracy rate and create awareness about breast cancer throughout the country.

Pictured below is Noelene Kotschan (PinkDrive) who receives a well deserved cheque of just over R280 000 from Koo Govender (M-Net Director of Corporate Marketing and Communications), Shelley Segal (Liberty Medical Scheme) and Gina Read (Cloud9Golf).

The totality of the event was a series of 24 Ambassador Golf days which were hosted nation wide, culminating in the National Final at the Randpark Golf Club. Wilde was proud to be a part of such a charitable event, keeping the golf players hydrated throughout the series - tantalising some taste buds we're sure!

Wilde Wheelchairs in action

Inspiring athletes participated in the annual Mitchells Plain Wheelchair Race which was held at the Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre. This was the race's third consecutive year of providing disabled athletes with an opportunity to shine and Wilde Fruit Juice was there to tantalise some taste buds!

The race boasts several categories which include Paraplegics, Quadriplegics and Cerebral Palsy. Professional athletes took part in a challenging 22km race, whilst beginners tested their skills in an 800m sprint and another race for powered wheelchairs.

Wilde Fruit Juice would like to congratulate Zanele who was the winner of the ladies 6km race, pictured below with her proud daughter. And well done to all athletes for taking part in this event.
Should you wish to join in on the fun next year, please take a look at the Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre website for additional information.

Renosterveld Challenge a Great Success

This year’s Ride the Rhino Mountain Bike Challenge, hosted by ‘The Renosterveld Trust’, was a great success with Team Wilde riders, Reniell Matthysen and Timo Cooper, taking 2nd place. Superb effort guys!
Wilde fruit juice proudly sponsored this event, tantalizing riders taste buds at fuel stop stations along the way, and more importantly helping to raise awareness about the plight of the Rhino in South Africa. Did you know that only 4% of the Renosterveld habitat remains? Wilde encourages all SA citizens to be a part of this endeavor by helping to promote conservation and the natural beauty of our scenic country.
Be sure to be involved with the next Renosterveld MTB Challenge. Visit www.renosterveldmtb.co.za for more information. Wilde hopes to see you there!

Wilde on the Oranje River

Wilde is the refreshing fruit juice of choice at the Wildthings Oranje River Adventure this Spring.

Renosterveld Victories

Team Wilde rode to victory at last weekend's Renosterveld MTB ride from Langebaan - Durbanville. Reniell Matthysen and Timo Cooper won the first 2 stages of the race which was a great victory! Alas, an unfortunate tyre puncture caused the team to finish 2nd overall which is still a fantastic result.

Robert King (Wellington Farmer) and Uros Kepic (MD of Tetrapak SA and Sub Sahara) also did very well, having finished the race with no complaints.

Team Wilde is looking forward to future MTB rides and the much anticipated Cape pioneer trek.

Team Wilde completes stage 4 of the Corporate MTB League

On Saturday 17th September 2011, Team Wilde members Tobie Visser and Jacques Groenewald participated in the 4th stage of the Corporate MTB League 2011.

All riders were presented with the most perfect and beautiful racing conditions that the Elgin Valley could possibly offer, starting from Tri-Active Adventures and following a magnificent course over Thandi, Paul Cluver and Oak Valley. It simply was magic, and many riders claimed that this was the best/most enjoyable course in the series so far, except for Team Wilde's small incident...

After a successful ride, both Team Wilde members car keys had fallen out of their saddle bags! Some frantic search and rescue efforts followed on the course after the prize-giving! The good news was that one set of keys were found, and a spare set of keys were handy for the other car.

Sjoe! Team Wilde almost had to add another stage to their ride by riding home to Wellington too!

It was a good job that the Wilde beverage stand was at the ready to quench our thirst.

Spring clean your body with Wilde Apple Juice

Winter hibernation is nearly over, with springtime blossoming on the horizon - the season of rebirth and new beginnings. A time when your body craves fresh, chilled fruit juice and a proper spring clean - time to make that fresh start!

During winter we all indulged in creamy soup and rich hot chocolate, but now it’s time to cleanse away the toxins left behind by these foods, and detox. The best natural way to spring clean your body, is with antioxidants - natural feather dusters and cleaning agents for your digestive system, which you won’t find in the cleaning isle but rather in apples and fruit juice like Wilde.

Wrapped inside the crispy skin of an apple, lies a multitude of natural antioxidants and detoxifiers like vitamin A, C and E, as well as pectin fiber. This soluble fiber aids the body in shedding toxic metals which interfere with your body’s metabolic functioning. By simply enjoying a pectin-rich apple your body is cleansed of these toxins while your winter-weakened immunity is repaired and your metabolism reawakened.

Apples are known to be low in calories, high in fiber and help to restore dry skin, giving you that radiant fresh spring glow. It’s not always easy getting that daily serving of apple in between work and family life. So when apples are hard to come by, a convenient glass of Wilde Apple Juice will do the trick. But which one to choose: 100% or Pure Pressed?

Impressively pressed

Wilde Pressed Fruit Juice is squeezed from fresh fruit, and packaged into the convenient Wilde juice cartons. That’s why you’ll only ever find cloudy juice inside every carton, rich in the same vitamins, minerals and pectin fiber contained within a raw apple - without the pesky pips of course.

Perfectly pulp-less

Wilde 100% contains only pure fruit juice. However what makes 100% different from Pure Pressed, is its smooth texture and clear juice. Once squeezed, the juice is put through a purifying process where the pulp is removed. The result is a pure, velvety fruit juice that is both smooth on the palate as well as on the taste buds.

With both these juices containing no added preservatives and no added sugar, the choice simply comes down to whether you’re an Impressively Pressed or Perfectly Pulp-less person. Best add Wilde Apple to your shopping list along with the feather dusters and window cleaner so you can get a head start on the big spring clean.

Wilde into the Wild

Wilde Fruit Juice was the King of the African jungle at the Spar trade show last week. This creative display was brought to life by Francois van der Merwe and enticed shop owners to enter into the draw to win a video camera with tripod.

We are proud to say that everyone felt the jungle fever and went Wilde - Wilde Fruit Juice that is!

Wilde backs a winning team

A few weekends back, Wilde stood on the sidelines of the rugby field along with parents and high schoolers, cheering and biting nails as the Hugenote High first team did their thing on the field. Sponsored by Wilde, the team definitely did not disappoint, kicking grass in the eyes of Swartland high school to claim a spectacular victory with 32-10! Congratulations team, you've made us proud!

Timo the Baviaan conquerer

A few weeks back, Team Wilde's Timo Cooper and trainer Gedden Ruddock kicked dust in the eyes of fellow cyclists to claim the number one spot in the Trans Baviaans one day race! Not only is this 235km challenge one of South Africa's premier mountain biking events, it's the longest single day MTB team challenge in the world. Starting at Willowmore, the route winds over and around spectacular mountain ranges before dipping through the breathtaking Baviaanskloof. Most cyclists only dream of competing and finishing the Trans Baviaans race, which makes Timo and Gedden's feat all the more noteworthy. Congratulations guys!

'Ride the Rhino' MTB Challenge

Our star pedaling performers - Kabous, Robert, Timo and Reniell of Team Wilde - will be showing their support for environmentalism this September, by competing in the Ride the Rhino cycling race. Instead of cycling for the sake of pure adrenaline, the Ride the Rhino is in support of rhino conservation.

Where at one stage the Renosterveld stretched from Vanrhynsdorp to Mossel Bay, this unique habitat now comprises only 4% of its original size. Through this mountain bike race, Renosterveld Events strive to create awareness of this environmental tragedy, and raise funds for the Renosterveld Trust, as well as towards improving communities along the route.

This grueling 3-day mountain bike challenge stretches from Langebaan to Durbanville and seperates the cycling world's Black Rhinos (300km race) from the White Rhinos (180km race). If you're interested in taking part in this muscle cruncher of an event and doing your bit towards preserving the environment and its treasures, Ride the Rhino takes place from 30 September to 2 October 2011 - enter online at www.renosterveldmtb.co.za. We wish you and our four Wilde representatives the best of luck!

The true goodness of fruit juice

Wilde recently extended the 'goodness' past the vitamin content of our juices, by sponsoring the fruit juice for a recent charity breakfast. Hosted at the Spier Wine farm, this stylish event brought celebrities and locals together in an effort to raise money for the Faith Fund. This non-profit organisation offers support to people living with fetal alcohol syndrome and is dependent on the goodwill of the community. The Wilde crew is thankful and honoured for this opportunity of contributing to such a worthy cause. If you'd like to lend a hand, make a donation or learn more about their work, be sure to visit the Faith Fund website.

Team Wilde on the right track

As always, Team Wilde is making the spokes turn as hard as fruit presses. On Saturday 23 June 2011, Timo Cooper, Reniell Matthysen, Kabous Marra and Robert King participated in this year's Wolseley Mountain Bike Race. Sporting a Wilde cycling shirt (Reniell) and unyielding game faces, the team made the muscle mutilating track look like child's play. Timo kicked dust in the eyes of other cyclists, finishing in first place! Reniell ended in an impressive third place, while Kabous and Robert made us proud, completing the race in good time together as a team. The four cyclists are now hard at work, preparing for the upcoming Cape Pioneer trek, which takes place in October. If
the Wolseley race is anything to go by, the Trek is sure to be a pushover. Well done, Team!

Thank Mother Nature for pure fruit juice

There's nothing like popping a straw in a 200ml carton of Wilde, or breaking the seal on a 1L and pouring a glass of pure, guilt-free fruit juice. And now, Wilde takes guiltless enjoyment to the next level. Wilde 200ml and 1L juices are packed in convenient Tetra Pak cartons, though of course that's nothing new. What is new, is Tetra Pak's recently developed recycling program, where cartons are recovered and reprocessed. To date, the program has created 18 sustainable jobs, and eradicated the process of sending cartons to India to be recycled.

So when you've drained that very last drop of delicious fruit juice, be sure to send your empty Wilde carton to your nearest Tetra Pak recycling depot. Thanks to this wonderful initiative, you can now enjoy every sip of Wilde with the guilt-free knowledge that you're not only sustaining your good health, but Mother Nature's too.

Wilde specials at Rasco

No meal is complete without something to sip on. And no complete meal is really delicious if that something isn't Wilde fruit juice. No one knows this better than the guys at Rasco. That's why they're currently running a special, offering you a lip-smacking and mouthwatering flame-grilled chicken Rasco roll, with a 340ml Wilde 100% fruit juice in any flavour you choose to round off your meal. You'll probably agree that it doesn't get more complete and delicious than this - so it's off to Rasco's for lunch!

Here's what they had to say:

So next time you find yourself desperately fighting the hot chocolate craving, sip on a glass of deliciously healthy Wilde instead.

100% dedication, 100% success, 100% fruit juice

Wilde Fruit Juice recently sponsored the Curro Drummies when they competed in the Western Province Championships. The girls put even their fiercest competitors to shame with their nifty footwork, swivels, precision catches and synchronized marching. Though Wilde simply sponsored their fruit juice, we felt like proud and gushing parents when the Curro Drummies marched off with first prize! Combining months of practice and hard work with 100% Wilde Apple Juice, the girls were definitely a rosy-cheeked force of energy to be reckoned with. Congratulations, Drummies, you earned it!

It's the season of Apples and giving

They say it's more fun to give than to receive. We very much agree! Though if you're on the receiving end like today's winners, you'll find that receiving is pretty sweet too!
