The World Health Organization states that health and well-being include physical, psychological and social welfare.
The Tygerbear Foundation is a non-profit organisation that offers a unique service in a facilitated environment to treat traumatised children. Tygerbear focuses on the complete, holistic psychosocial treatment of children up to 18 years old. These traumas include children who survived malnutrition; illness; neglect; physical, emotional and sexual abuse; gang violence, as well as HIV/AIDS and Cancer.
Tygerbear offers a comprehensive package of therapy, support, training, caring and prevention, while being the only foundation of its kind in South Africa. As a non-profit organisation, the TygerBear Foundation relies on contributions from the corporate and public spectrum.
Tygerbear was privileged to end 2009 with a tour of endurance. Dieter Voigt, known for being Mr. South Africa 2007 and television presenter for Afrikaans actuality programme, Pasella, set out to cycle all the way from Cape Town to Mosselbay, making various meet-and-greet stops to raise awareness about his initiative to raise funds for the TygerBear Foundation.
It is inspiring to consider the amount of children and families that were reached through this endeavour. We are thankful for all the people who came from near and far to support this project - opening both their hearts and their wallets. Tygerbear would like to thank Pacmar, Martelize, as well as Dieter for going above and beyond for the cause.
