Club Newlands took the initiative to devise an admirably, simple plan: let's get the fans to meet their rugby heroes, and make a day out of it. Or in this case, a day and night...
Friday 16 January 2009, welcomed a team of loyal supporters to the Newlands grounds, for a well organised sleepover. This was to kick off the 2009 Vodacom Stormers rugby season, with the concept of networking: allowing kids and parents to meet their favourite players, mingle with fellow supporters and enjoy the luscious green field of dreams.

This was to kick off the 2009 Vodacom Stormers rugby season, with the concept of networking: allowing kids and parents to meet their favourite players, mingle with fellow supporters and enjoy the luscious green field of dreams.
The activities was well delivered, with the kids being treated to a coaching session with the Vodacom Stormers, while the parents settled on simply enjoying discussions concerning the forthcoming rugby season - sharing their views and expectations. Goodie bags consisting of various items from sponsors, including Wilde Pure Pressed and Squeezed Fruit Juice, was handed to the kids for some refreshment.
The end of the day was complemented with a good old fashioned braai, which proved to be one of stellar proportions - like minded people enjoying the company of one another, a delicious Wilde Juice to drink, and the flavour of champion boerewors hanging in the air - what more could one ask for?
The numbers that came, the numbers that saw, was conquered by this phenomenal event. It's really nice to know that the good people from Club Newlands, are doing it for the fans.
